I chose this essay: “ The Publication of Your Personal Profile” by Megan Ramirez.

The claim in the essay: “ When users of social networking websites such as Facebook or Myspace put personal information in their profile, whether intentional or unintentional, they are allowing their private lives to be published which, in turn, gives others the right to scrutinize them.

The reason(just list 3 reasons here)

1 “Private is not so private anymore; because these sites have evolved to an extent that millions are using it, personal information is more readily available to be seen by the internet community.”

2 “ The users of Myspace and Facebook do not realize that even though they may have a restricted profile, other such as teachers and potential employers can easily gain access to their profiles.”

3 “The uses of Myspace and Facebook are not aware of the fact that what they put on their profiles is a representation of themselves and that they are responsible for whatever infotmation is displayed.”

Types of evidence: author used many types of evidence

1 Data: in second paragraph author used data to explain the rapid increase of users of Myspace and Facebook.

2 example: In March 2008 at the University of Delaware, eight students assistants were forced to resign due to posted pictures of themselves drinking on their Facebook

My feeling:

This essay used many persuasive examples to explain the issue of the publication of our personal information, and what the side effect is when we post our private information on internet
